In-Person Session: Redmond STR Updates & World Cup Hosting Opportunities

Valuable insights for STR hosts and those considering the opportunity

Tuesday, January 13, 2026
11:30 AM - 1:00 PM (PST)

Event Details

In early December 2025, the City of Redmond updated its short-term rental (STR) rules, clarifying licensing requirements, compliance expectations, and good-neighbor standards for residents who rent their homes for fewer than 30 nights. With these new rules now in effect — and the 2026 FIFA World Cup expected to bring significant visitor demand to our region — this in-person session will help existing Redmond hosts and Redmond homeowners interested in exploring the opportunity understand what’s changed and how to prepare for responsible, successful hosting.

City of Redmond staff will review the updated STR code and answer questions about registering, operating, and staying compliant. Attendees will also hear insights from Airbnb on hosting during major events — including demand surges, guest expectations, and tools for pricing, bookings, safety, and performance. An Airbnb Superhost Ambassador will share practical strategies for preparing your space and optimizing your listing.

OneEastside’s Small Business Advisor will offer general business considerations for homeowners exploring short-term rentals. Speakers will be available to answer questions and work directly with attendees.

Featured speakers include:

  • Kim Dietz, Creative Economy & Small Business Permit Liaison, City of Redmond
  • Denise Shinoda, Business License Program Coordinator, City of Redmond
  • Scott Brownlee, Senior Manager, Host Growth & Experience, Airbnb
  • Muni Sodhi, Superhost Ambassador, Airbnb
  • Shawn Palmer, Small Business Advisor, OneRedmond-OneEastside
