Lunch & Learn: Inside Redmond Police Department’s First Responder Drone Program
Join us on Thursday, October 2 from 12:00–1:00 PM at Together Center for a fascinating Lunch & Learn with Redmond Police Chief Darrell Lowe.
In April 2024, the Redmond Police Department became the first in Washington and the Pacific Northwest to launch a full-time Drones as First Responders (DFR) program. This innovative technology allows officers to deploy drones and arrive on-scene to most calls in under 90 seconds—improving response times, enhancing decision-making, and helping ensure safer outcomes for both officers and community members.
In 2024 alone, drones responded to 659 calls, with 25% of those eliminating the need for patrol units—freeing officers for other emergencies. Drones have provided live visuals for incidents involving armed individuals, shoplifting, DUIs, traffic collisions, and more.
Come hear Chief Lowe share how this groundbreaking program works, the impact it’s already making, and what’s next for public safety innovation in Redmond.
Lunch is included with your ticket. Registration required.
